布洛克島隕石（Block Island meteorite）正式名稱為「子午灣高原 006」，簡稱「MP 006」，是2009年7月17日，機遇號火星車在火星上發現的一塊隕石，其直徑約為67厘米（26英寸）^[1]^[6]。

歷史[編輯]

布洛克島是火星車在子午線高原數百米範圍內遇到的三顆鐵隕石中的第一顆，其他二顆為謝爾特島（第二顆發現的隕石）和麥基諾島（第三顆發現的隕石）^[2]。

關於布洛克島隕石何時落到火星上，目前尚未有強有力的證據，從大氣層條件推測，偏向抵達於諾亞紀晚期。布洛克島隕石可能已被嚴重風化^[2]^[7]，或者相反，包裹它的特徵可能只是它在穿過大氣層時形成的表面氣印。與某些說法相反，布洛克島顯示的尺寸對現代火星大氣層來說並不是太大，雖然大氣密度越大，就越能有效地產生出塊狀島型隕石^[8]。
