2019年1月8日，美国总统唐纳德·特朗普在华盛顿特区白宫椭圆形办公室发表有关移民问题的全国讲话。主流媒体均直播有关讲话，以及讲话后民主党的回应[1][2]。
特朗普主张国会为建立美墨边界的边界围栏提供资金，以结束联邦政府局部停摆[3][4]。是次讲话乃特朗普首次椭圆形办公室内进行电视直播，讲话预计不会超过8分钟[5][6]。
特朗普政府提前一天向电视台要求播出时间[7]。特朗普随后宣布：“我很高兴地通知你们，我将就我们南部边境的人道主义和国家安全危机向全国发表讲话，时间为东部时间周二晚上9点[8]。”
另外是次全国讲话发生在联邦政府停摆第17日。
民主党回应[编辑]
民主党领袖要求在同样时间举行电视直播发表回应[9]。众议院议长南希·佩洛西以及参议院少数党领袖查克·舒默代表民主党回应特朗普的讲话[10]。
根据《好莱坞报道》，民主党回应的收视率比特朗普的讲话多一点[11]。
直播覆盖率[编辑]
总统讲话由美国媒体以空中编程的方式进行直播[7]，大众媒体对总统特朗普待遇也引起了公众的批评[6][12]。2014年11月，时任总统奥巴马发表同样有关移民的讲话时，数间媒体表明因为避免成为政治宣传平台而拒绝直播讲话[12][13][14]。
