描述
English: Galileo's lodestone. It is a sector or military compass from which a lodestone is hanging, supporting an iron weight in the shape of a sarcophagus (coffin), belonging to the Italian scientist Galileo Galilei. The iron sarcophagus weighs 15 pounds, the lodestone only 6 ounces. For 400 years the lodestone has held up the weight without losing its strength.
