The video shows new recruits undertaking a specialist 10-week course that not only tests physical and technical attributes but also temperament, mental toughness and extreme-pressure decision making.
For the first time ever, a camera has followed candidates through the intensive training programme to reveal exactly what it takes to become a member of West Midlands Police's armed response ranks.
Firearms officers are on standby around the clock to protect communities in the West Midlands against the threat of gun or knife crime.
